January and Stuff

I’ll be honest, January is not one of my favourite months- it’s cold, it’s too long and I suffer from SAD. Lately my back has been flaring up as well so I’ve made my laptop/computer desk into a standing desk.

I have been very busy however working in my sketchbooks and planning new projects for my portfolio. I can’t show you much of this stuff right now because it’s pretty sketchy and it’s work in progress, but here are a few sketches I scanned in.

I’ve been learning more about the discipline / theory of Illustration as well now that I can fully commit to it- not just technical skills. I’m sort of making my own syllabus.

I finally had time to sit down and read all the Varoom magazines I had collected whilst I was a member of the Association of Illustrators many years ago trying to learn the ropes. I’ve also been going through the many books and resources I’ve collected over the years.
